4 Dance Champions emerge as #GloBattleoftheYear semi-finals hold

The 12th of Episode of the biggest dance show in Nigeria, the Glo Battle of the Year Nigeria presented the first phase of the live shows and the semi-finals of the national finals in Lagos. At the end of the show, winners emerged out of the 7 dance categories. The show which was held at the prestigious Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos was available for the public to watch live on the Glo TV app as well as on the Glo Nigeria Social media pages.

It was a step into the limelight for many dancers as they strutted their stuff in front of a live audience of almost 3,000 dance lovers on a night that can only be summarized as a ‘Night of Unlimited Entertainment. The audience was thrilled to not just a powerful display of dance moves but also comedy performances by MC Forever and the legendary Man on Fire, Bovi, as well as music performances from YBNL Boss, Olamide, and the music duo of PSquare. The highlight of the show was the emergence of champions across 4 dance categories.

Here are 3 highlights from Episode 12 of Glo Battle of the Year, Nigeria.

1. Dancing brothers lose semifinals: C-Fly and P Brain have been dancing together as brothers for years. In the Glo Battle of the Year Nigeria, they decided to participate in the Locking and Krumping battle respectively. C Fly lost to Christiana Gift in the PH Locking finals but was voted back into the competition by fans as a wildcard while his brother won the PH Krumping finals. In the live show, the 2 brothers cruised through the quarterfinals only to be evicted in the semifinals by their respective opponents who then went all the way to clinch the grand prize.

2. Lagos repeats regional Locking battle: In the Lagos regional Locking battle shown in Episode 3, Benedict was defeated by Dance teacher Locking Mike in the finals. Benedict was voted back into the competition as a wildcard and he appreciated the votes of the viewing public through his performances that impressed the judges enough to make him a Locking finalist. Locking Mike had more to prove as he stayed calm and defeated the energetic Benedict to repeat the outcome of the Lagos regional Locking finals.

3. Angela is golden but a twist of fate favors Izzy Twist: Angela seemed the girl to beat and her performance during the live show was testament to this fact in the Afro dance category. After making it to the finals, the Abuja-based Afro dancer was however defeated by Izzy Twist from Kaduna who seemed to be the judge’s favorite.

The Grand Finale of the show will hold on the 30th of April at Eko Hotel and Suites. Davido, Simi, and Teni will perform live at the show which will feature the Bboy, Bgirls, and Breakdance Crew quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals.
