A journey of exploration begins in the 32nd episode of the Globacom-sponsored series, The Village Headmaster.
Following the approval of the school excursion by the SEC, the Headmaster, Teacher Iginla, and Teacher Fadele paid a visit to the palace to solicit financial support for the project from Kabiyesi and the council of elders. An unexpected turn of events, however, shocked them. In the absence of Kabiyesi, Chief Dagbolu assumed the role of acting Kabiyesi of Oja Village. In spite of the new play of events, the Headmaster impressed upon the acting Kabiyesi the importance of the excursion to the development of the students. Will the acting Kabiyesi, Chief Dagbolu, follow the necessary protocol and call a council meeting to deliberate on this request? Or will he just go right ahead and reject or grant their request for sponsorship?
Madam Gbeke, aka “Small Radio Oja” seems to be at it again. As news of the upcoming excursion spreads around the village, Madam Gbeke can be seen right at home at the centre of it all, sharing details about the trip. She shares details of the means of transportation, the different locations that will be visited such as the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, and other historic centres. In addition, she encourages parents to enrol their children for the excursion, while pointing out that Teacher Iginla was leading the project. Can we assume that Madam Gbeke has turned a new leaf and passed along accurate details of the excursion? Could there be something amiss?
Chief Dagbolu’s self-appointment as acting Kabiyesi has generated mixed reactions among the people. Some have praised him for his acts of goodwill, such as giving grants and scholarships. On the homefront, one of his wives, Asake, believes that she and all his other wives, should now live in the palace and be addressed as ‘Oloris’. But the senior wife however has a different point of view on the matter and cautions Asake about sharing such views outside the house. Will she heed the warning or fight for what she believes is her right? Teacher Fadele, on the other hand, is taking advantage of his new position as Chief under the acting Kabiyesi, to ask the people to pay tributes to the new acting Kabiyesi of Oja Village. But the question is, is he acting on the instructions of the acting Kabiyesi or for his own interests?
After promising to help Doctor Kunle raise the funds needed to acquire the hospital from Doctor Smart, Prince Adeniyi introduces him to his uncle, the acting Kabiyesi, Chief Dagbolu to discuss his plans and how he intends to repay him. After listening to his plans Chief Dagbolu offered to help him acquire the property because of all his good deeds in the community. To this end, Doctor Kunle arranged for a survey of the hospital in question and requested for Prince Adeniyi to accompany him on this survey. It would be interesting to find out what Chief Dagbolu offered up to assist Doctor Kunle.
